The Internet makes your daily life easier: administrative procedures, online purchases, exchanges with the family... But bad actors can use these services to trick you, steal your personal information or money through  well-thought-out online scams. Be on your guard and don't trust everyone!

The online scams that most target seniors

What to do if you think you've been a victim of online fraud?

  • Stop all contact with the scammer
  • Change your passwords immediately
  • Contact your bank to block or dispute a payment
  • Keep evidence (emails, screenshots, references)
  • Report the scam on the SafeOnWeb platform
  • File a complaint with your local police
  • Talk to a loved one or a professional (you don't have to be ashamed)

Good practices to adopt

  • Check the sender and site address
  • Don't click on message links you weren't expecting
  • If in doubt, call the service via its official number
  • Enable two-factor authentication
  • Use different, strong passwords for each site
  • Update your computer, smartphone and antivirus
  • Choose recognized sites, check the legal notices and reviews
  • Talk to someone you trust about your doubts
  • Take a step back if we play on urgency
