Police Assistance Service for Victims (P.A.S.V.)

Avenue de Berlin 247
7010 SHAPE

As a victim of an assault, rape, burglary, road accident or any other criminal offence, the first service you come into contact with is usually the police. Our police officers welcome you, listen to you and provide you with assistance.

During such an event, we do not all react in the same way. While for some, the reaction may be short-lived, for others, the effects can be felt over a much longer period of time and can lead to various consequences: headaches, sleep disorders, anxiety, shame, fear of leaving the house, etc. The consequences can also be financial, material, administrative or legal.

This is why, if the police deem it necessary, they can offer you a contact with the Police Assistance Service for Victims (PASV).

Free to accept or refuse the help offered to you, you should know that this service is available to you free of charge.

The Federal Police at SHAPE does not have a PASV as such BUT can act as a relay to the Federal Police – HAINAUT’s District Coordination Departement - which has such a service. The PASV of HAINAUT is provided by three members of the staff who are social workers. Intended for victims, relatives or witnesses, its missions are emergency intervention, guidance and training.

The PASV listens to you, reassures you and offers you psychological support. It will provide you with the legal and social advice you may need and accompany you in your efforts. As its name suggests, this service is essentially focused on emergencies. In other words, they are not able to provide you with a long-term follow-up, but they will take care to direct you to the service(s) that best meet your needs.
