Wilhelmus Beckmann was convicted by the court of assizes in Antwerp for murder and intentional arson on January 18, 2024.

Beckmann murdered his girlfriend and then staged a violent robbery. To cover up the body and the gunshot wounds, he tried to set fire to the villa where he was staying.

The crime was committed in the city of Merksplas in 2008.
