Suleyman BETELGUIRIEV killed the 19-year-old Mikey Peeters on 30 May 2014. He stabbed the victim six times and two of these stabs were lethal. Shortly after the facts, he fled to his home country Chechnya.

On 1 February 2019, he was convicted in absentia to 30 years in prison by the Court of Assizes of West Flanders
