Speed Marathon – Reinforced controls for 24 hours
From Wednesday 15 April (6 a.m.) to Thursday 16 April at the same time, a new marathon of speed checks will take place. For 24 hours, the Federal Traffic Police and a large number of Local Police zones will strengthen their controls. As always, drivers in violation may be flashed by automatic fixed speed cameras or by mobile speed cameras in the presence of police officers.
The objective of this announced action is clear: to encourage motorists to moderate their speed and never exceed the limits. Many people still underestimate the risks of driving at excessive speed, which remains one of the main causes of accidents.
Top priority
The speed check marathon is held twice a year, in spring and autumn. In the last edition in November 2025, 1,145,927 drivers were checked at 645 sites, using fixed cameras as well as mobile speed control devices. A total of 47,447 speeding offences were recorded, which corresponds to 4.14% of the vehicles checked. The driving licenses of 102 drivers have been withdrawn!
These results prove that exceeding speed limits is still well established and that it is imperative to continue to raise awareness and control. Road safety remains an absolute priority for the Integrated Police.
Together, let's make roads safer and save lives!
